Manuel (Antonio de la Torre – The Night Manager), a charismatic politician who lives in the lap of luxury financed by bribery and corruption, seemingly has it all – he is beloved by the people and surrounded by loving friends and family. But when he tries to cover up his colleague’s illegal dealings, a scandal ensues and his party decides to make him the scapegoat. With the support of his wife and daughter, Manuel enters a dirty fight for survival against the well-oiled machinery of corruption and the political system in which the rulers change, but the rule remains. Isabel Peña (May God Save Us – ZFF 2017) co-wrote the script. The film screened at festivals in Toronto and San Sebastián, among others.
