Sadistic gangster Chas (James Fox), on the run from the mafia finds refuge in the basement of a washed-out rock star, Turner (Mick Jagger), and his two girlfriends Lucy and Pherber (Anita Pallenberg). The two men discover they have a lot in common and develop an unusual relationship filled with decadence and mind games verging on insanity. Under the influence of dynamic editing and fragmentary narration, identities merge and the line between what is real and imagined blurs. The film’s dark undertone and graphic depictions of violence, sex and drug abuse delayed its release for two years with distributors insisting on a re-edit.
