Several months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, during the 1990 German federal elections, Chris Marker recorded this short documentary in which the images of the city are juxtaposed to dissident artists’ testimonies. One of them is Jürgen Böttcher, whose masterful The Wall also appears in this program.

Chris Marker
Was a film director and multimedia artist, a tireless globetrotter with camera in hand. The forerunner of the so-called Left Bank of the French New Wave, he made film essays characterised by a pronounced socio-critical stance and formal innovativeness.
