In ancient Greece, a girl on the verge of womanhood experiences the mystery of first love. In the shadow of the night, she notices some unusual flowers, has fascinating experiences and meets wondrous creatures and beautiful nymphs. The film was inspired by a collection of lesbian poetry, The Songs of Bilitis, by French poet Pierre Louÿs (1894).
