In a small town in western Greece, known for its eel farming, two women lead solitary lives, yearning to leave town. Once ambitious police officer Elisabeth was forced to leave Athens ten years ago and now spends her days hungover, joyless and prone to sudden fits of rage. Rita, the quiet and mysterious sister of a local singer, works at the eel farm. When a sudden death unsettles the local community, the secrets hidden in the marshes begin to surface and the lives of the two women start to intertwine. The film premiered in the Berlinale Panorama program.

His short fiction film The Devouring Eyes (1999) was awarded at Karlovy Vary, while his feature debut Homeland (2010) premiered at the Venice International Film Critics’ Week. His second feature film A Blast (2014) premiered at Locarno Film Festival.
